Taking things a bit more easy from now on. I’m finding my ankles are starting to hurt over the last few days so I need to warm up and cool down properly. Old bones. Anyway today was very pleasant with the morning sun shining through the trees.
19-05-2016 Been fiddling around with a video editor and trying some different formats. I’ll attach the results to previous posts as soon as I’ve got a system. Also tried to use a different video format to record myself. Didn’t test it first and now I can’t import it into my video editor. I’ll try something different tomorrow …
Argh! That annoying red dot! However it didn’t come out in the recording so you don’t have to put up with it at least. Maybe it was all in my mind… Anyway everything else went fine. I had an idea to improve the depth information: If I take just the nearest depth from each panorama then mash them all together (like I’ve done in previous tests) BUT I only use the nearest texture across the WHOLE scene rather than take the nearest texture information from each panorama and try to stitch them together. That way I should be able to reduce the discontinuous nature of the geometry from one pano to the next. But I don’t have time for testing that just now. It’s way down the bottom of the to do list.
I’m finally off of the A30! I only got about 5 mins at the end of this journey but it’s much nicer. Also had a few recurring problems. The panoramas were flickering again, they we’re coming in too early and there was a new problem where the video being recorded on the Gear VR was cut in half. As I was riding the scene started to flicker and then went black and I thought it had crash, but it resumed and started a new recording. Not sure what that means.
15-05-2016 More boring A30. Also I had some strange new bug where there’s a slight flicker between panoramas. Something new everyday. BTW all the posts up until now have had the wrong date on them because I didn’t create this blog until after I’d started cycling.
14/05/2016 Very boring today. The entire time spent on the A30. Also thought it would be good to make a timelapse of the entire journey when I’m done. Also I really need to display my map coords so I can see where I am on the map.

12/05/2016 Had a patch of about half a kilometer of no panoramas today because I used a cycle path. It was better than cycling for 6 kilometers on a motorway. Also tried out the screen spray. Seemed to do the job. Still a hell of a build up of sweat though.
11/05/2016 No cycling today. The download process got stuck when it hit an area that had no panoramas in it for too long. I’ve fixed it now so should be good to go tomorrow but there will be an area of about 600 meters without any images. Also my screen spray to stop the goggles steaming up turned up today.
10/05/2016 Mostly went fine but there were a number of panoramas that were too close or irrelevant to my route so I would veer around sharply to drive under them. Also sweat. In my eyes. Ow stingy. And there was nothing I could do about it because of the goggles. Not sure how I’ll solve that.
